Tips for Keeping Your Crystal Chandelier Dazzling

A crystal chandelier looks its best when dust and light surface residue are removed before they have time to build up. A simple, regular care routine is usually easier on the fixture than waiting for a deep cleaning.

Dust the surrounding area first

Ceiling dust can settle back onto a freshly cleaned chandelier. Dust nearby vents, trim, and furniture before you begin, then place towels or a protective covering below the fixture.

Make electrical safety the first step

Turn off power to the chandelier at the wall switch and circuit breaker. Allow the bulbs to cool completely. Never spray cleaner into sockets, wiring, switches, electrical connections, or other open components. Keep the power off until the fixture is completely dry.

Use Brilliante for routine surface cleaning

Brilliante Crystal Chandelier Cleaner is intended for dust and light surface residue on compatible chandelier surfaces. Follow the product label and the fixture manufacturer’s care instructions. Test a small, inconspicuous area first when the finish is antique, plated, painted, lacquered, repaired, or unknown.

Brilliante is not a treatment for hard-water or mineral deposits, food grease, heavy oily buildup, set-in stains, burn marks, smoke damage, rust, tarnish, or corrosion. It is also not recommended for crystal ornaments or figurines.

Help prevent spots and buildup

Avoid cleaning with hard tap water, which can leave mineral residue behind. Keep the chandelier away from cooking grease when possible, and clean light dust before it becomes a heavier film. If mineral deposits or stubborn damage are already present, follow the crystal or fixture manufacturer’s guidance or consult a qualified chandelier-cleaning professional.

Keep maintenance consistent

How often a chandelier needs attention depends on its location. Fixtures near kitchens, fireplaces, open windows, or busy rooms may collect residue faster. A quick visual check every few weeks can help you decide when routine cleaning is needed.
