How to Keep Crystal Chandeliers Sparkling
Crystal chandeliers collect dust gradually, so regular light maintenance can make cleaning easier and help preserve their appearance. The safest routine begins with the fixture manufacturer’s instructions and careful protection of all electrical components.
Before you clean
Turn off power at the wall switch and circuit breaker. Allow every bulb to cool completely. Place towels or a protective covering below the chandelier, and make sure you can work safely without stretching or standing on unstable furniture.
Never spray cleaner into sockets, wiring, switches, electrical connections, or open components. If the chandelier has antique, plated, painted, lacquered, repaired, or unknown finishes, test a small hidden area first and consult the manufacturer or a qualified professional when needed.
What Brilliante is designed to clean
Brilliante Crystal Chandelier Cleaner is intended for routine dust and light surface residue on compatible crystal and chandelier surfaces. Follow the label directions and the fixture manufacturer’s care guidance.
It is not formulated to remove hard-water or mineral deposits, food grease, heavy oily buildup, set-in stains, burn marks, smoke damage, rust, tarnish, or corrosion. It is not recommended for crystal ornaments or figurines.
Prevent heavier buildup
Kitchen grease, fireplace residue, open windows, and nearby renovation work can make a chandelier dirty faster. Dust the room before cleaning the fixture, keep cooking residue contained when possible, and inspect the chandelier periodically so light residue can be addressed before it becomes a heavier film.
When routine cleaner is not enough
If you see mineral deposits, corrosion, tarnish, smoke damage, or stubborn buildup, do not assume a stronger household cleaner is safe. Check the fixture and crystal manufacturer’s instructions or contact a chandelier-cleaning or restoration professional. Acids, abrasives, and strong chemicals can damage coatings, finishes, adhesives, and repaired areas.
Let the chandelier dry fully
Keep the power off until the fixture is completely dry. Before restoring power, check that no moisture has entered sockets or electrical components.
